how much do i need to undress for a treatment?

i recommend wearing loose comfortable clothing. i can work with you fully-clothed or you can undress to your comfort level. most of the modalities i use do not require full skin exposure, and in case skin exposure is required (such as during acupuncture needling), i use professional body draping techniques, and only the area being needled will need to be undraped. i always use a consent based approach and communicate every step along the way to ensure your feeling of safety and comfort.

does acupuncture or fire-cupping hurt?

because of the small size of the needle, acupuncture should not induce a painful reaction. while you may experience various sensations, the feeling of pain is not normally one of them. cupping is often very pleasant and relaxing for most people, and i always make sure to have communication with you throughout the treatment to ensure you are comfortable. any mild bruising usually goes away within 2-4 days. the five most common sensations you will likely feel with acupuncture or cupping are:

the needle can feel like a heaviness or weight being placed on your body.

a throbbing sensation or dull ache can sometimes occur, but usually dissipates quickly.

you may feel a small sensation like electricity as the needles are inserted. it only lasts for a second then relaxes.

there may be a light tingling sensation at the insertion site or throughout the body like you might experience when your hand or foot falls asleep.

a pleasantly warm feeling may flood your body as the needles or cups are used.
